GALACTIC GALS TRIBUTE: LEIA ORGANA

Early in 2022, I wanted to come up with a fun idea. A challenge to help get people involved and a challenge to express the love for Star Wars, especially the lovely ladies in Star Wars. So I came up with the concept of Galactic Gals, a two week event where each day was a day to showcase love for the ladies of Star Wars. Some days surrounded on a single lady and others went outside the box with a certain era or show. Of course, the first day had to showcase the first Star Wars heroine, Leia Organa.

Leia was the first woman in Star Wars and was the only female character featured in A New Hope apart from Aunt Beru. Leia was the character to have younger girls look up to. Leia is the embodiment of girl power, being the one to find a way out of danger when she brought them into the trach compactor, helping watch and guide the X-Wings to blow up the first Death Star. She was more than a princess. She then became a general, a mom, and a symbol of hope. Carrie Fisher, the actress who brought Leia to life, definitely brought love and that power to Leia, even in The Rise of Skywalker, her final appearance in the saga. A lot of people relate to Leia and have that same power as Leia. So it felt appropriate to have Leia be the first theme for Galactic Gals. Many people shared their outfits of Leia, their art, toys, etc. and the love for Leia was so strong.

As for me, I went with the white outfit, the one she was wearing when we first met her. This dress was from Her Universe and it showcased the outfit that helped introduce Leia Organa to the world in Star Wars. Along with the iconic Leia buns, this is the main look from Leia that is recognizable to everyone. To everyone that participated in Leia Day for Galactic Gals, thank you for showing love for our princess. She will always be royalty to us.
